For an alternate viewpoint, see “Counterpoint: Advance Excerpts of President Biden’s State of the Union Address.”

The State of the Union is upon us, and, according to Biden officials, the annual address is an opportunity for a public reset moment.

There’s quite a lot to reset. Not only is the leader of the Free World suffering from “diminished faculties” and “significant limitations,” including a “faulty memory,” but he has also been affected by the “woke mind virus” that has made him the most left-wing president in history. To quote Elon Musk, when the federal government starts calling women “birthing people,” you know it’s time for a hard reset.

But where do you possibly start? In a world on fire, do you highlight the mission to end whiteness in America by inviting millions of undocumented immigrants to cross the U.S.-Mexico border? Do you tout record-low border enforcement amid a foreign invasion?

Eh, let’s change the subject. Perhaps President Biden can highlight the push to ban gas stoves or punish home-buyers with high credit scores. Maybe he can bring up Bidenomics again as if it’s popular or effective in a world where people in battleground states like Pennsylvania or Nevada pay more than $3.50 for a gallon of gas. Or maybe it is time to highlight Biden crushing U.S. energy independence to the benefit of his good pals in China (who definitely aren’t eating our lunch) and a resurgent Iran, the champion of global stability. That’s not to diminish the important economic gains made by Democrats hired to administer such calamities or the well-heeled donors whose companies receive no-bid contracts.

Eh, let’s move to foreign policy. Biden has a unique opportunity to promote the never-ending war in Ukraine, which has cost U.S. taxpayers tens of billions of dollars for reasons that remain unclear. Paying corrupt Ukrainian civil servants who embezzle money for a living is a masterstroke, right?

While Americans may benefit from paying Ukrainians to kill Russians and killing Russian aggressors historically makes for good policy, failing to make that case clear has averted public unity while the potential for rampant corruption goes unchecked.

What about the Middle East? Now is Biden’s chance to bring up the Israel-Hamas war that started under his watch amid his tepid support (at best) for one of America’s most important allies after freeing up billions of dollars in cash for Iranian oil (side note: Iran funds Hamas). Or maybe change the subject to an emboldened China, which threatens to follow Russia’s lead and take advantage of weak global leadership.

Between naps and bicycle rides in Delaware, Biden still has time to empower America’s enemies. The radical Islamists who oppress women and toss gay men off buildings appreciate Biden’s “leadership” on the global stage. This is a dog-eat-dog world — just ask the Secret Service.

It is difficult to believe Biden won’t bask in the glow of his resounding success. Except, Americans have no faith in the U.S. economy or the ability of their government to secure its own borders (southern or northern). All the while, Disney-style wokeness continues to erode American culture, spreading from increasingly antisemitic college campuses to “diversity-or-die” boardrooms to the halls of the morally bankrupt White House, infecting the minds of young people who now grow up hating America. That’s some achievement.

The Biden administration has done its part to embrace a post-America vision for America, where the government can control everything because people apparently shouldn’t be allowed to think or act for themselves. Rather than addressing inflation or achieving peace through strength, it is best to put out press releases on transgenderism, right?

Let’s make apocalyptic America great again. Issue by issue, Joe Biden is succeeding beyond the wildest dreams of Jimmy Carter, whose family is grateful to have a president really polish that particular potato. May Biden finally find the words to say goodbye to the America we once knew and loved.
